February 2025 | Three Thrifty Things

Tip #1: Wear an Apron

Somewhere along the way, aprons got a reputation for being fussy, but let’s be honest: Grandma knew what she was doing. An apron is one of the most practical things you can wear! It keeps your clothes stain-free (goodbye, oil splatters and tomato sauce disasters) and helps extend the life of your wardrobe. Plus, an apron with pockets is perfect for keeping tools, clothespins, or even a handful of snacks within reach. Whether you’re in the kitchen, the craft room, or the garden, an apron is a trusty companion that deserves a comeback.

Tip #2: Switching Yarn? Try an Invisible Join

If you knit or crochet, you know the struggle of switching yarn colors or starting a new skein without leaving a bulky knot or an obvious weave-in. This month, we’re sharing a simple technique for an invisible yarn join—a smooth, seamless way to transition between yarns without interrupting your stitches. Whether you're working on a delicate lace project or a chunky winter scarf, this trick keeps your work looking neat and professional!

Tip #3: Make a Scrappy Scarf from Leftover Yarn

Got bits of yarn left over from past projects? Instead of letting them gather dust, turn them into a scrappy scarf! This project is as simple as crocheting 3” squares from your leftover yarn and stitching them together into a long, cozy patchwork of color and texture. It’s a great way to use up small scraps while creating something warm, nostalgic, and uniquely yours.
