Century Plant | Vintage Striped Sateen
This is vintage fabric from The Cele Peterson fabric collection. "For almost a century, Cele Peterson was a catalyst to creative, unselfish, community development, and a challenging voice for worthwhile change." She was a "Tucson's grand dame of fashion" and a philanthropist focused on building up the arts and caring for the children of Tucson, Arizona.
(quotes are from her obituary in the Tucson Sentinel)
Project Ideas: This is a light-medium weight fabric with lovely drape! It would make a stunning pair of wide-leg slacks, a great shirtdress, a gorgeous skirt, or a lovely lightweight jacket! (although, it would definitely need interfacing, and possibly underlining, if you went the jacket route)
Content: Rayon (Most likely 100% rayon or a rayon/cotton blend, burn testing indicates it is cellulose based, and the drape leads us to believe it is rayon, but the tags did not give an exact fiber content)
Condition: Like new vintage deadstock. There may be some discoloration at the selvedges from being in storage.
Care Instructions: Always wash and dry fabric before sewing to ensure it is done shrinking, this will make your final project more likely to be machine washable.
We do our best to color-match each photo to the fabric, however, device displays vary greatly in quality, warmth, and vibrancy. We cannot guarantee what you see here will be an exact match to the color of the fabric when it arrives.
We tear the fabric to make sure it's cut on the straight of grain, because of this, we make sure to add about an inch extra to the cut.
